June 10-14 DARE Grad: June 12

GRADE 6 Housekeeping/Homework:

 1. DARE GRAD - Students receive their graduation certificate from the DARE program. 3 essays will be presented during ceremony. PARENTS WELCOME. FREE Pizza lunch will be provided.

2. Learning Styles / Final Assessments - Students are demonstrating their final level of abilities for all grade 6 objectives through various testing strategies (Recognizing dominant and non-dominant learning styles; inferencing; "other" objectives)

3.Tribes Community - Student have discussed the 4 agreements and are continuing encorporating these understandings in classroom assignments, projects, studies, Advisory-type moments, etc.

ACADEMIC REMINDER: If you don't like your mark and think you can do better, redo’s are accepted on many assignments - with the old copy stapled behind the new copy; re-testing is also available on Mon/Wed after school. (Just let Mrs.Tuttosi know so that she is available.) Nothing gets "locked" until June.

AGENDAS: nightly signing of agenda / students are to update agenda during each class.  Mrs.T. has a homework board that a student leader updates regularly. Students are encouraged, in each class, to write down their homework immediately ...and to not wait until the end of the day. According to research, students need to be organized with their agenda first thing in the morning, at the start of each class - with touch ups, if needed, at the end of the day. Starting the day with this organization builds student success ...and makes them more effective when they bring it to you at night for your initials / parent check for homework completed (and due dates). wink

HOMEWORK CLUB: Students who are behind, need help on an assignment, or at teacher's request  Mon-Friday 3:15-3:45   In computer room.  (Mrs Tuttosi helps Mon/Wed if needed) (Many students use the help - off and on! )

Elluminate Reporting System:  Achievement Indicators Based on AB Objectives   4=exemplary (commendable, demonstrates in-depth and broad understanding), 3=proficient (competent, demonstrates well-developed and consistent understanding), 2=progressing (adequate, demonstrates basic and developing understanding), 1=not yet (not yet acceptable, demonstrates inadequate and limited understanding)...of subject outcomes.

June BIRTHDAY CELEBRATIONS: We will be celebrating each child's birthday ON their day. If it falls on Sat or Sun, we will celebrate it on the Friday (or Mon). July/Aug babies will be done in June. IF possible, parents can send something special for their child's class that day and we will eat it at the end of the day during ADVISORY (3:05-3:15). I will talk to your child with a little reminder as it comes closer to the day...probably a week notice.  We have 21 students.

Dustin - June 8 (celebrates on Monday 10!)

Hunter - June 12
